WELCOME, MIKE HOWARD!

New Board Member Mike Howard and Fellow Hiker Chaco

A special thanks to the HUPC board for including me in the effort to preserve the High Uintas! I clearly remember my first trip into the Uintas-- a week long backpacking trip spent reveling in the untrammeled wilderness. What surprised me the most on that first trip was the unique character of the Uintas. They are truly different from the Winds and the Colorado Rockies in an outstanding way. I go back whenever I can, but it's never enough. My 9-month-old son has not yet been into the Uintas. That will change this summer and my hope is that he will grow to find the Uintas the place of enjoyment and spiritual renewal I do, and that he can show his children.
