OLD FRIENDS... AND NEW!

This fall was one of reunions of old friends of the High Uintas Preservation Council and Utah Wilderness Association. UWA staffer Gary Macfarlane (now director of the Friends of the Clearwater) visited from Moscow over Thanksgiving, sharing dinner with three of us on the HUPC Board. UWA staffer George Nickas (now Executive Director of Wilderness Watch) visited from Missoula early in November and met with old UWA friends/board members Jane and Roger Arhart, Patti Case, Rick and Linda Van Wagenen, as well as some current HUPC board members. And you'll remember from the HUPC Rendezvous in September that former UWA board members Mike Cowley, Dean Petaja, Kris Thorp (all SLC residents) and Jim Pissot (down from Alberta, where he heads Defenders of Wildlife/ Canada) joined former HUPC board member Sean Kearney (out here from Fresno to camp in the Uintas) and current board members and friends for a lot of laughter and reminiscing. 'Tis the season, indeed, to hear from old friends.
