Utah Wilderness DiscussionsEven though the Forest Service withdrew its support for a national wilderness celebration, at the local level some forests are proceeding with wilderness celebrations. In northern Utah the Forest Service will sponsor a number of events at the SLC Main Library Auditorium, 210 E. 400 S., from 7:00-8:30pm. 21 JUNE. The Academy Award nominated documentary, Wild By Law: The Rise of Environmentalism and the Creation of the Wilderness Act, will be shown. 19 JULY. The "Values of Wilderness" will be discussed by 3 speakers: SLC Mayor Rocky Anderson will discuss the value will discuss of wilderness to SLC. Wayne Padgett, Wasatch-Cache Forest Ecologist, will discuss ecological values. HUPC's
Margaret Pettis will discuss the soul of wilderness. Farther north, on 29 July at 6 PM HUPC's Dick Carter will discuss the Utah Wilderness Act at the Guinevah Campground Amphitheater in Logan Canyon.
